What are Muse cells

Muse cells are natural, non-cancerous pluripotent stem cells found in the connective tissue of nearly every organ, in bone marrow and in peripheral blood. From a single cell, they can give rise to cells of all three germ layers — potentially any tissue in the body.

The key difference from other pluripotent cells is safety: Muse cells have low telomerase activity and, in experiments, do not form teratomas (tumors) — confirmed, in particular, by transplantation into immunodeficient animals with follow-up of up to six months.

The term "stem cells" has attracted everything from hype to skepticism. The truth lies in between: regeneration is a natural biological process that requires the right conditions in the body. That's why applying these techniques is always preceded by a thorough work-up involving at least three specialists, including oncology screening. There are clear contraindications: malignant processes, transplanted organs, epilepsy. We do not take on everyone — roughly 25–30% of applicants are declined if treatment cannot be made safe.

Questions & Answers

Are Muse cells the same as embryonic stem cells?
No. Muse cells are the patient's own (endogenous) adult cells. They are obtained from normal tissue without destroying embryos and without genetic manipulation, and their low telomerase activity distinguishes them from tumor-forming cell lines.
Can stem cells cause cancer?
For Muse cells, tumorigenicity has not been observed in studies: they do not form teratomas due to low telomerase activity. Nevertheless, oncological vigilance is a mandatory part of our protocol — cancer screening is performed before treatment.
Is compatibility testing needed, like for organ transplants?
According to research, donor Muse cells have a special immune privilege and can be used without HLA typing or immunosuppressants. The application protocol in each case is determined by the physician.
What conditions are these technologies used for?
The scientific literature describes Muse cells contributing to the restoration of liver, muscle, skin, heart and brain/spinal cord tissue. At the clinic, indications are determined individually — after examination and consultation.
